Meet Zola

My mommy says we have to write about our new dog Zola.

Zayd: We have a new puppy and her name is Zola. She plays with me and I play with her. She is so sweet and she listens. We are training her. She is a yellow lab and we got her from a shelter.

Zahra: We have a new dog. She is just a puppy and she is not even one yet. We are training her to know her name and to sit and to go in her crate. She slept in her crate last night and I slept on the floor next to her until my mom moved me to my bed at 6am when they went to pee. She also peed at 2am, 4am, and 8am.

Mommy: Over the last month, we've been fortunate to get to know little Zola, while she was being cared for by a foster mom with the Helotes Humane Society. She's the runt of her huge litter, sweet and timid, loving and affectionate. We did get to finally hear her bark today, her first morning in our home, when Zayd opened his bedroom door around 8. She's afraid of doorways but loves long grass. She'd rather not investigate other pups, just yet (which is great because at 2-3 months she's not allowed). She's happily retreated into her crate a few times to escape the noise and boisterousness that is our small house. She's doing pretty good with her pottying and great with her other training. The kids are currently so excited to pick up her poop that they prefer to share the job and use two baggies. Zahra, true to form, is invested in her training and doing everything to the letter (as set forth on the kid's dog training book Nini Ella sent us). Zayd is the snuggler, the pillow, the best friend. ZZ is still afraid but interested in watching her and wants her to be happy. He did have a rough day today, and ended up in the wrap for nap (both of which are more rare occurrences around few these days). But everyone is adjusting well and I need to sleep because potty time is only ever four hours away.

Third Grade by Zayd

Today my mom says we have to talk about picking up our school work from ALA and show some of our favorite work.

We went to school but we didn't work. But we did get to see our teachers and we were happy to see them and they were happy to see us. We gave them a little gift🎁.

Here is some of my favorite work. I cut out a picture of a shark and made it into a stamp, kind of. And my favorite PBL project was about ants. PBL is project-based learning. I also made a self portrait of me.
