NYC with my babies

After a bit of a hiccup, we arrived into LaGuardia and then Brooklyn last night. This morning ZZ was up with the sun, despite a very late bedtime, and I was off to buy the essentials for a fun filled day. It turns out Zayd's really had outgrown his coat and we left the stroller at our unexpected 20 hour layover in Houston.

In NYC, we tend to struggle with deciding how much to do: guess who wants to do it all!? Much to my "luck" Sam already had a train to Utica booked so I'd be with the kids on my own. I still went for the full gusto of a day, and my kids really hung in there with me!

We started all together at an old Tribeca diner with omelets and pancakes and French toast... but imitation syrup.

Then we were off to recreate memories at the Children's Museum of Art, a favorite place of mine that we visited five years and two days ago. (Thank you Facebook!) There were bongo drummers, watercolors, upcycled art activities: basically, a kid's dreamworld. Or mine. Likely both. We painted and painted and painted and attempted to wait for everything to dry, then shot some pictures and headed out because ZZ was screaming for "more London bridge".

If I'd had another adult, any sane adult, they would've said it was time to go home. But my kiddos pushed on with me and we had the best time. We visited Nelson A Rockefeller park, which the internet had told me was the best playground in NYC, and the internet never lies! The equipment reminded me of Hemisfair Park before the upgrades: wooden structures and metal slides. It was expansive, challenging, and so very fun.

Finally, I let them come home. ZZ was asleep within five minutes in the Lyft. My sweet big babies spent a hot minute relaxing before heading down to the indoor pool with fun auntie Sonia.

I was a restless mess sitting, waiting for our next adventure... So I planned tomorrow! For dinner, we managed to fit in
Jane's Carousel, dinner by the water, and Jacques Torres artisanal chocolate.

On the ride, we did Rose and thorns. ZZ said, "Mommy, tell me why I happy" and he agreed with every statement. Zayd remarked that the whole day was his rose and then asked to explain himself. "I got to spend the whole day with my family"

What a great heart filling, exhausting day we've had. That's the only way I know how to do NYC!
